If it were not that the top band on the spine is missing, this book would be just perfect. Otherise it's lovely -- clean andt tightly bound with clean pages and page edges. The text is augmented by large illustrations and includes a portrait of the author. He is a straightforward writer, no long dangling sentences that close books. He had ties to Phillips Academy, Oberlin College in Ohio, New Haven Theological Seminary, California, New York, Wiscosnin, across the Plains to Oregon before the railroads asnd during an Indian War, to years in Idaho, the Pacific Coast. and then 21 years in Southern California. The book measures 5-1/2" x 7-x3/4"and has 330 pages.
